FPU Newbuild – Engineering Excellence for Deepwater Operations
In 2022, KC OCEAN supported the newbuild construction of a Floating Production Unit (FPU) specifically engineered for deepwater operations in the Trion field. Working with McDermott, we applied our technical expertise and industry-specific insight to ensure the unit was designed to meet the rigorous demands of the Mexican ocean space. This project underscores our capacity to deliver high-value engineering and technology solutions for complex offshore assets, ensuring they are built for peak performance and operational reliability.
As a strategic maritime and offshore partner, we leveraged our deep understanding of the Trion field’s requirements for the operator, Woodside. Our involvement focused on bridging the gap between advanced concept design and safe execution, drawing on our nineteen years of experience in Mexico and the Americas. By integrating best-practice methodologies and North Sea maritime heritage, we helped mitigate operational risks and navigate the fragmented industry challenges associated with newbuild projects.
The project was executed with the highest priority on safety and quality, supported by our DNV-certified management systems. Our mission to connect opportunity with capacity allowed us to unlock Ocean Space Value for our clients while accelerating execution across complex marine environments.
